Preveli Day Trip

One of the most beautiful and exotic places of Crete

Close to Rethymno, you will find the beach in Preveli which is known as “Palm Forest” and it is near to the despotic monastery of Preveli at the gorge estuary “Kourtaliotiko”. The monastery established in the Middle Ages was destroyed after the Turkish occupation and rebuilt later. To reach the beach of Preveli, you need to walk during a wonderful route in the forest with the exotic palm trees which is one of the biggest in Europe. It is remarkable that on 22th of August on 2010, a big part of the forest was destroyed by the fire. Nevertheless, until the 2011 the forest with the palm trees was reborn, quickly and natural.

The hiking in the forest is unique and the route by the river which ends to the sea is speechless. The incomparable beauty of the river with the palm trees is the best place for unforgettable summer photos. There you can find a canteen for soft drinks, food and whatever you need.

Preveli Gorge Crete

Also, the Cretan Bay Transfer with the experience on the excursions introduces you unreservedly to the excursion to Preveli in combination with the visit of traditional mountainous wonderful village “Spili”. Spili seems to have been a village since the Second Byzantine era. In the village square, you can see the tall, age-old plane trees as well as a fountain with 25 lion-headed fountains, where from the mouths flows icy crystal clear drinking water from the mountains. In this village, there are many mansions, old churches decorated with murals. Spili is the perfect destination for tourists and Greek people who can taste delicious Greek -Cretan traditional food. .
